Search for "cashback on rent" and you will find a lot of apps promising rewards. Look closer and most of them are not paying you anything. They let you charge rent to your credit card, and the rewards come from your card, minus a fee.
That is still useful. But if you want an app that actually pays you for paying rent, the list gets short. This guide separates real rent cashback from pass-through rewards.
Short Answer: The main app in Canada that pays its own cashback on rent is Neobanc. It pays 1% cashback toward your next rent payment or 2% on a six-month rolling unlock, on eligible rent payments, including rent funded by free Interac e-Transfer. If you pay by credit card, your card's rewards stack on top. TenantPay pays TenantPay Points rather than cash. Chexy and Casa mainly pass through your credit card rewards, with Chexy running periodic Aeroplan promotions and Casa offering a 0% fee on one Scotiabank card.
Before comparing apps, it helps to know what you are actually getting.
Fees and features are taken from each provider's website in September 2026. Confirm current terms before signing up.
Neobanc pays cashback on eligible rent payments. You choose your tier once, at setup, and it can't be changed later:
Fees only apply to credit card payments. If you fund rent by free Interac e-Transfer, you still earn cashback, with no Neobanc fee. On $2,000 monthly rent, that is $240 a year on the 1% tier or $480 a year on the 2% tier. Read more in our guide to earning cashback on rent paid by e-Transfer.
If you pay by credit card instead, Neobanc cashback stacks on top of your card's own rewards.
Your landlord does not need to sign up or approve anything, as long as they accept Interac e-Transfer. That is how Neobanc delivers rent. Neobanc is a registered Money Services Business with FINTRAC and is PCI-DSS compliant.
Best for: renters who want cashback without needing a premium rewards card.
TenantPay rewards tenants with TenantPay Points, not direct cashback. Points stack on top of card rewards when you pay by card. TenantPay also runs a monthly rent draw and reports on-time rent to Equifax.
According to its pricing page, tenants pay $4.99 per pre-authorized debit payment, 0.99% by Visa Debit, 1.75% by Visa credit, and 2.75% by Mastercard credit.
Chexy lets you pay rent by card for a 1.75% fee on domestic cards (2.5% on international cards) and pays your landlord by Interac e-Transfer, pre-authorized debit, or Bill Pay. Chexy doesn't pay ongoing cashback on rent itself, though it periodically runs promotions, such as Aeroplan bonus points, and offers referral rewards.
Chexy also sells optional memberships: Essential at $9.99 a month or $90 a year, and Plus at $20 a month or $200 a year. Members get free debit payments, and annual plans lower the domestic card fee to 1.65% (Essential) or 1.50% (Plus). Since June 19, 2026, Credit Builder is part of Plus for new users.

Casa passes through your card rewards. Its standout feature is a 0% fee with the ScotiaGold Passport Visa. Other Canadian credit cards cost 1.75%, and debit cards cost 1%, according to Casa's site.
Whatever you choose, pay your card balance in full. Credit card interest wipes out any rent reward in a single month.
Plenty of Canadian apps let you earn your card's rewards on rent. Very few pay you anything themselves. Neobanc is the main app that pays its own cashback on eligible rent payments, 1% or 2%, and it is the only one on this list where rent funded by free Interac e-Transfer earns cashback. TenantPay pays points, while Chexy and Casa rely on your card. If you want rent to pay you back, whether you use a card or not, Neobanc is the one to start with.
