Canada Child Benefit (CCB) 2026: Eligibility and Payment Dates

Neobanc

Key Points

  • CCB payments arrive monthly, on the 20th or the last business day before it. December is paid early, on the 11th.
  • The CRA hasn't posted 2027 dates yet. January 20, 2027 falls on a Wednesday, so that's when the first 2027 payment is expected.
  • For July 2026 to June 2027, the maximum is $8,157 a year per child under 6 and $6,883 per child aged 6 to 17. Payments shrink once your adjusted family net income passes $38,237.
  • If a payment doesn't arrive, wait 5 working days before contacting the CRA.
  • Renting parents can pay rent through Neobanc by free Interac e-Transfer, earn 1% cashback, and fund it 3 business days before the due date.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) pays the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) every month, usually on the 20th. The remaining 2026 payments are November 20 and December 11. From July 2026 to June 2027, you can get up to $679.75 a month for each child under 6 and $573.58 for each child aged 6 to 17.

If you rent, a CCB that lands on the 20th arrives well before rent is due on the 1st. With Neobanc, you can pay that rent by free Interac e-Transfer and earn 1% cashback, and your landlord still gets a regular e-Transfer.

CCB Payment Dates for 2026 and 2027

The CRA sends the CCB on the 20th of each month. When the 20th falls on a weekend, the payment goes out on the business day before, and December is paid early, before the holidays.

The 2026 dates come from the CRA's CCB payment dates page. As of October 27, 2026, the CRA hadn't posted 2027 dates, so the 2027 column applies the same 20th-of-the-month rule. December is left open because it doesn't follow that rule: it was paid on December 12 in 2025 and December 11 in 2026.

Your payments are recalculated every July. Payments from January to June 2026 were based on your 2024 tax return. From July 2026 to June 2027, they're based on your 2025 return.

How Much CCB You Get From July 2026 to June 2027

If your adjusted family net income is under $38,237, you get the full amount for each child: $8,157 a year ($679.75 a month) for a child under 6, and $6,883 a year ($573.58 a month) for a child aged 6 to 17. Above that income, the CRA reduces your total payment.

Here's roughly what that looks like each month:

Adjusted family net incomeOne child under 6Two children (one under 6, one aged 6 to 17)
$35,000$679.75$1,253.33
$50,000$611.13$1,121.00
$70,000$494.47$896.00
$90,000$400.43$717.52
$120,000$320.43$575.02

These are estimates using the CRA's formula for July 2026 to June 2027. Your CRA account shows your exact amount.

Between $38,237 and $82,847 of income, the CRA cuts your total by 7% of the income above $38,237 with one child. That rises to 13.5% with two children, 19% with three and 23% with four or more. Above $82,847, a fixed reduction applies, plus a smaller percentage of the income above that line.

A few other things can change the amount that lands in your account:

  • Child disability benefit. If your child qualifies for the disability tax credit, the CRA adds the child disability benefit to your CCB automatically.
  • Provincial and territorial benefits. Related provincial and territorial programs are paid together with your CCB. Alberta's child and family benefit is the exception: it's paid quarterly, on February 27, May 27, August 27 and November 27 in 2026.
  • Small totals. If your CCB for the year adds up to less than $240, the CRA pays it in one lump sum with the July payment instead.

Who Qualifies for the CCB

To get the CCB, all of these have to be true for each child:

  • You live with a child under 18.
  • You're primarily responsible for the child's care and upbringing, such as supervising daily needs, medical care and child care.
  • You're a resident of Canada for tax purposes.
  • You or your spouse or common-law partner is a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a protected person, or registered (or entitled to be registered) under the Indian Act. A temporary resident also qualifies after living in Canada for the previous 18 months and holding a valid permit in the 19th month.

When two parents live together with the child, the law presumes the female parent is primarily responsible, so she usually applies. If the other parent is the main caregiver, they can apply instead with a signed letter from her. With shared custody, where a child spends 40% to 60% of the time with each parent, both parents should apply.

How to Keep Your CCB Payments Coming

The CRA recalculates the CCB every July from your previous year's tax return, so file on time every year. Your spouse or common-law partner needs to file too, because the CRA uses both incomes.

Tell the CRA about changes as soon as they happen: a new address, a new bank account for direct deposit, a change in marital status or a change in custody. Payments can pause until the CRA has your updated details.

What to Do If Your CCB Payment Is Late

Start with your CRA account. Under "Benefits and credits", it shows your next expected payment date and amount, the status of each payment this benefit year and your statement of account.

If the money still isn't there:

  1. Check that your address and direct deposit details are current. If you've switched banks, keep the old account open until the first payment lands in the new one, since that can take up to a month.
  2. Wait 5 working days after the payment date before you call the CRA.
  3. Remember the lump-sum rule: if your yearly CCB is under $240, you won't get monthly deposits, just one payment in July.

To avoid guessing, you can sign up for the CRA's payment reminders, which arrive by email about a week before each payment.

How to Line Up Rent With Your CCB Deposit

Because the CCB lands around the 20th, it gives renting families more than a week before rent is due on the 1st. That makes it a natural fit for rent day, and Neobanc turns that payment into cashback.

  • Pay rent by free Interac e-Transfer and earn 1% cashback, applied toward your next month's payment. On $2,000 of rent, that's $20 back each month.
  • Or pay by credit card and keep your card's own rewards on top of Neobanc's. A 1.5% card fee applies.
  • Your landlord doesn't change anything. They receive a regular Interac e-Transfer and don't need a Neobanc account.
  • Fund your rent 3 business days before it's due. A CCB deposit on the 20th clears that easily.

You can do the same with your credit card bill. Pay it through Neobanc, funded by Interac e-Transfer from your bank, and earn 1% cashback on the payment. Schedule it about 5 business days before the due date.

Neobanc is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business and is PCI-DSS compliant.

Bottom Line

CCB payments arrive on the 20th of each month, or the business day before, and December is paid early on the 11th. From July 2026 to June 2027, the maximum is $679.75 a month per child under 6 and $573.58 per child aged 6 to 17, reduced as family income rises.

File your taxes every year and keep your details current so the deposits keep coming. When your CCB lands, put it toward rent through Neobanc: pay by free Interac e-Transfer, earn 1% cashback, and your landlord still gets a regular e-Transfer.

When is the next CCB payment?

The remaining 2026 payments are November 20 and December 11. The CRA pays on the 20th of each month, or the business day before when the 20th falls on a weekend, and pays December early.

What are the CCB payment dates for 2027?

The CRA hadn't posted them as of October 2026. Based on the 20th-of-the-month rule, expect January 20, February 19, March 19, April 20, May 20 and June 18, 2027. Check the CRA's payment dates page to confirm.

How much is the CCB per child in 2026?

From July 2026 to June 2027, the maximum is $8,157 a year ($679.75 a month) per child under 6 and $6,883 a year ($573.58 a month) per child aged 6 to 17. Amounts drop once family net income passes $38,237.

Why is my CCB payment late?

Common causes are an outdated address or bank account, a tax return that hasn't been filed, or a change in custody or marital status. Check your CRA account, then wait 5 working days after the payment date before calling the CRA.

Why did my CCB amount change in July?

The CRA recalculates the CCB every July using your previous year's tax return. From July 2026, payments are based on your 2025 income, so a raise, a new child or a child turning 6 can change your amount.

Do I need to apply for the CCB every year?

No. You apply once for each child. After that, you and your spouse or common-law partner need to file a tax return every year so the CRA can recalculate your payments each July.

Can I use my CCB to pay rent with Neobanc?

Yes. Once your CCB lands, you can pay rent through Neobanc by free Interac e-Transfer and earn 1% cashback. Your landlord receives a regular e-Transfer, and you fund the payment 3 business days before rent is due.
